How to care for your Aímée items.
How do you care for your beautiful woolen Aímée items so that you can enjoy them for a long time?
- We use primarily natural materials. Therefore, we recommend washing your items as little as possible. Wool is self-cleaning.
- Hang your woolen items in the fresh air
- Or use a handheld steamer to postpone a wash. Steaming is a safe way to clean.
- Never put your wool sweater, dress, or pants in the dryer. You'll end up with a dress for your daughter's, niece's, or friend's Barbie...
- When hand-washing wool, be careful not to rub the fibers vigorously. Use plenty of water and preferably a detergent specifically formulated for wool.
- Wool pilling is unavoidable. Even the most expensive wools pill. Every time you wear or wash a wool cardigan, dress, or sweater, it creates friction. And friction is the biggest cause of pilling. Coarse and loose knits are more prone to pilling than heavier knits. The woolier or hairier the fabric, the greater the chance of pilling.
- Use a wool comb or a professional lint remover.
How do you care for your cotton-linen dress, blouse or trousers?
You also want to keep your linen items looking their best. Aimée de Label primarily uses a combination of 50% cotton and 50% linen. We do this because it's more colorfast and wrinkles slightly less than 100% linen.
Colored linen can bleed during the first wash. With our quality, you usually won't have this problem. But to prevent problems, we recommend washing the item separately the first few times. Rinsing is often enough. Never wash it warmer than 40 degrees Celsius, preferably at 30 degrees Celsius. (Also better for the environment...) And never tumble dry!
Linen/cotton is naturally prone to some wrinkling. Most people who buy it actually find it beautiful and know this is part of its natural look. If wrinkling bothers you, you can iron your garment while it's still slightly damp. Do this on the inside of the fabric or use a handheld steamer for a more elegant look.
Aímée's cotton/linen pieces are perfect for combining with many other fabrics, such as leather, satin, or denim. The natural look of linen creates a soft and neutral look. This softens leather, enhances denim, and enhances satin. Linen/cotton also pairs beautifully with many styles and silhouettes. Think of a leather belt,
